SWEET ESCAPE invites us to be immersed in a world both familiar and distanced, one brought to life by the visionary French artist KEAN. This exhibition serves as a portal into a dreamlike realm, where art becomes a window into an alternate reality of color, depth, and sensory exploration.
 
KEAN’s artistic vision is shaped by two major influences. His work draws inspiration from the American Color Field movement, where the very essence of art is reduced to pure flatness color, highlighting the power and significance of these foundational elements. Equally, if not more, influential is the Californian Light and Space movement, with artists like James Turrell, whose exploration of light and perception invites viewers to engage with sensory phenomena in new, transformative ways. KEAN's work merges these moments in art into a new and wonderful creation, managing to translate colorful plains into a serene luminosity and depth.
 
A self-taught artist, KEAN's unique technical expertise has evolved over time, refining his craft to achieve immaculate results in his contemporary creations. Starting as a graffiti artist, Kean gradually became infatuated with the beauty of his gradient backgrounds. As he left lettering behind, these gradients became the centerpiece of his art, and depth became his primary language. His flawless colorful ombrés—though seemingly flat—create an illusion of infinite space, pulling viewers into expansive, dreamlike landscapes that transcend reality.
 
Color plays an equally pivotal role in KEAN's work. His masterful curation of palettes, ranging from soft pastels to more striking hues, evokes a sense of synesthesia, wherein the viewer can almost taste the sweetness of the colors. These delicate yet bold choices bring forth a sense of nostalgia for an uncharted place—one that stirs a feeling of longing and wonder.

In collaboration with CLMX, we open the exhibition with a DJ set and a dynamic dance performance, enhancing KEAN’s work with vibrant energy and movement. The artist brings to light in this exhibition pieces that have never been shown before, including a monumental installation and light show designed specifically for the MACADAM space, taking the viewer on a journey into a limitless world of color, depth, and light.
